“Services” means the online services we provide through our Website. This includes fundraising and awareness-raising for the MenBaware Campaign which aims to increase awareness of the meningitis B disease, its risks, and the protection gap across youth aged 16-25, their families, and post-secondary institutions, and any other related services offered on or through the Website.

“Social Media” means any social media account affiliated with a dedicated website or other application, which enables users to communicate with each other by posting information, comments, messages, and images. Social Media platforms include but are not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and any other equivalent or similar platforms existing now or in the future.

“Supplemental Agreements” means any terms and conditions, rules, policies, or any other agreement, whether click-through or otherwise, made between you and BFK that are supplemental to or supersede any one or more terms in this Privacy Policy.

If you navigate to other BFK websites, you may be able to make donations and purchase BFK merchandise. In doing so, you may have to provide us with payment information as part of the Personal Information we require from you to facilitate your desired transactions. In these limited circumstances, please be aware that BFK, its Affiliates, and its Service Providers do not store any payment information used in connection with such purchases or donations.
- Payments for BFK merchandise are processed using Shopify Platform Services, and you will be required to provide certain information for identification and verification, such as your name, credit, debit, or other card number, card expiration date, and card security code.
- Donations are processed using Zeffy (formerly Simplyk), and you will be required to provide certain information for identification and verification, such as your name, credit, debit, or other card number, card expiration date, and card security code.
If you are directed to the third-party payment gateways noted above to make payments, the privacy policy, terms of use, refund policies, complaint mechanisms and any other applicable policies of the third party will govern any complaints or breaches in respect of Personal Information provided thereto. In other words, BFK will not be responsible for any privacy breaches arising out of your use of a third-party website linked or directed through the Website.

Location, Safeguarding and Retention of Personal Information-
The security of your Personal Information is important to us. We use physical, electronic, contractual, and administrative measures appropriate for the sensitivity of the Personal Information and designed to secure your Personal Information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. We may use Service Providers and personnel to adopt and maintain the appropriate level of security and to help prevent any loss, misuse, or unauthorized modification. The Server is hosted in Canada but the Personal Information stored in the Server may be in Vancouver, Toronto, and / or Montreal. BFK has also put in place the following security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and unauthorized alteration of the information under our control:
- a firewall to filter inappropriate access to the Server;
- the logging of all Server access, including date, time, IP address, and username (if entering a restricted area);
- regular backups and updates of the Website and other digital platforms;
- SSL encryption to transmit data
- securely to the Server; and
- limited accessibility to Personal Information for only those authenticated and authorized users. For greater clarity, these users may include Directors of BFK, our Affiliates, and our Services Providers as well as the BFK, Affiliate, and Service Provider personnel who work on or otherwise assist with the Services or Website.
